I wanted to do something mainly typographical. The poem is "The Mermaid" by the great WB Yeats. The illustration was done by me traditionally with colored pencils. The rest of the stuff was done in Macromedia Fireworks.
The poem reads:
A mermaid found a swimming lad,
Picked him for her own,
Pressed her body to his body,
Laughed; and plunging down
Forgot in cruel happiness,
That even lovers drown.
-By William Butler Yeats
